Role of the HMI Software in the SCADA

Human Machine Interface (HMI Software) makes it possible to interact with devices such as pumps, sensors, valves, motors and other processes. The structural design of the SCADA system starts with microprocessors such as Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). They communicate with the devices and the HMI. The data is conducted from the microprocessors to the SCADA computer.

SCADA software can collect data for historical purposes for analysis, prevent troubleshoot problems and identify improvements. Therefore, the data collected from the devices is transmitted to the PLCs and distributed to the system of the HMI, operator computers, and servers. Example: Description of the SCADA system

  • The system is used to transport and process the aluminium swarf which is discharged by the conveyors of three machines (type Starrag Ecospeed-F).
  • The transport is done with three vacuum stations installed underneath the discharge conveyor of each machine in the production area.
  • A conveyor system transports the briquettes to the skips located outside. A swivel chute mounted above the skips distributes the briquettes being discharged in the two skips.
  • They are connected to overhead suction pipework mounted in the production area.
    A high vacuum suction unit in the swarf room is connected to the end of this pipework.
